MCIA CAMPAIGN – UNLOCK YOUR FREEDOM

May 29th, 2020.

The MCIA is to launch a heavyweight media campaign next Wednesday the 3rd of June. Under the banner Unlock your Freedom, the cross-industry initiative will promote the benefits of scooters and small motorcycles as real alternatives to public transport.

Ahead of the launch, the MCIA has issued a teaser press release (below). More information and creative assets will be released next week.

“When he recently warned the commuting public to avoid public transport as lockdown is eased, Grant Shapps, Minister for Transport, thoughtfully provided a list of alternatives.

Walking and cycling, ideal for those with a shorter journey, were quite rightly listed, but curiously so too were road clogging, emission laden single-occupant cars. He even touted the imminent use of illegal e-scooters.

However, one absolutely appropriate transport mode that was and continues to be inexplicably ignored, is Powered Two Wheelers; lightweight, zero and low-emission scooters, mopeds and motorcycles that use minimal road and parking space, but ensure social distancing.

As a consequence of this omission, members of MCIA, the body that represents all Powered Light Vehicles and stakeholders, have come together to make sure that commuters are fully aware of the advantages offered by this efficient, environmentally-friendly and cost-effective way of travelling.

Wednesday, 3rd June will see the launch of Unlock your Freedom, a hard hitting, multi-media campaign aimed at getting more people to enjoy their commute aboard a powered two-wheeler, by providing everything a new rider needs to know to get on the road.

With this information and after the completion of a short Compulsory Basic Training course, commuters can say hello to briefer, more enjoyable and safer journeys, courtesy of their own socially-distanced PTW.”

As the campaign unfolds, further information will be available here in the trade press, motorcycle consumer titles online and in print and via the Association’s website www.mcia.co.uk
