October 15th, 2020.

The Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) has advised that it hosted a video meeting this morning, Thursday the 15th of October, between Rachel Maclean MP and members of the Powered Two Wheeler industry.

A cross-section of vehicle manufacturer and importer members of the MCIA, the body representing the Powered Two Wheeler (PTW) and Powered Light Vehicle (PLV) sectors, today accepted an invitation from Transport Minister Rachel Maclean MP, to discuss the role that these vehicles can play in the future of transport.

Facilitated by the MCIA's CEO, Tony Campbell, who opened by presenting a summary of the MCIA’s policy document, The Road to Tomorrow’s Journeys, the meeting heard from a variety of senior members from across the industry, on topics including barriers to accessing PTWs, especially for first-time riders, to support for start-up electric PTW manufacturers, the specifics of ePTW charging and the role of electric and traditional power units in the product mix.

The Minister, who was fully engaged with the conversation and well-informed about the PTW/PLV sector, was complimentary about the industry’s perspective on transport issues and committed to continue to work with the MCIA and its members.
