Slinky Glide tapered bearings are considered to be a quality upgrade over the cheaper ball-type steering head bearings which most manufacturers use on their bikes.Ball-type bearings only have a tiny weight-bearing contact area, which means they have a much shorter lifespan than a tapered bearing, where the load is spread across the long surface of a cylindrical roller.
